The cult room of the house is accessed by stairs in the peristyle, and visitors must use flashlights when visiting. The room is highly decorated, featuring two niches on its north wall containing paintings. One depicted the Genius with a cornucopia and making a libation, while the other showed the Lares with rhyta and situlae. Two large serpents were painted on the west wall, meeting at an altar. The whole room was decorated with various garlands, plants, and red borders. For more information on this cult room, see PP347 in the database.
In addition to now being accessible to the public, this announcement also came with the first high-quality images of the room available online in 17 years. See the full post here.
