THE ARCHAEOLOGY OF
Roman Domestic Religion
About
Robyn Cooper is a New Zealand archaeologist living in Melbourne, Australia. In 2023, she graduated from the University of Melbourne with a first-class Master of Arts in Ancient World Studies. Robyn also holds a first-class BA (Hons) in Anthropology and Classical Studies from the University of Otago. She became interested in further researching Roman domestic religion after completing her honours thesis on the archaeological evidence of Roman domestic religion at Pompeii. She has worked as an archaeologist in both New Zealand and Australia and volunteered for a field season at Pompeii in 2019 (Casa della Regina Carolina Project).

This website was created as part of a passion project based on the continued work of her master’s thesis titled Romans, Religion, and Residences. Investigating the relationship of domestic cult spaces and Roman homes throughout Pompeii, Herculaneum, and the Iberian Peninsula. Robyn hopes to continue this research both in her spare time and in the future as part of a PhD.
