Structural type:

Aedicula, Altar, Wall Painting

Room function:

Peristyle/Portico

Description:

Against the west wall of the peristyle stood a masonry base, presumably for an aedicula shrine or to act as an altar. Traces of the original marble slabs could be seen on the outside of the base, as well as traces of a painting on the wall above. Nearby a small cylindrical tufa altar was found. It appears that the structure was largely destroyed prior to the eruption.
