Structural type:

Aediucla, Niche, Stucco Relief

Room function:

Viridarium/Garden

Description:

In the north wall of the garden was an arched niche. The niche was located close to the ground, sitting only 0.50m above it. The wall around the niche was separated from the rest of the room by a rectangular panel of white stucco. On this panel was the depiction of an aedicula façade carried out with low relief lines of yellow and violet. Above the niche was a wide pediment, into which the arch of the niche extended into. Four engaged columns were present which rested upon a cornice that ran below the niche. A scalloped cornice ran under the pediment and into the niche.
