Description:
In the centre of the south wall of the pseudo-peristyle in the garden was a cult space. This cult space took the form of an aedicula that sat on a rectangular base. The base was painted red, and had a heavy projecting legde decorated with triple bands of stucco. Upon this stood two fluted columns all coated in white stucco. These columns supported a pediment, the tympanum of which was bordered by a double moulded stucco cornice. The back wall was hollowed out to form a shallow niche and was painted blue. The ceiling of the niche had been painted to represent a shell.
