Room function:

Peristyle/Portico

Description:

On the west wall of the portico was a cult space. This cult space was comprised of an unusual arrangement, consisting of a masonry bench above a tufa slab embedded in the wall surrounded by an aedicula façade. The structure sat 1.30m above the ground. In the centre of the tufa slab was a phallus in relief. A similar phallus was found embedded up high in the eastern wall of the garden also surrounded by an aedicula façade. This shrine does not survive today.
