Description:
Located on the north wall of the peristyle was a niche, which sat 1.40m above the floor. The niche had a peaked ceiling with a projecting floor that continued around all sides of the niche. The interior walls were coated in stucco and outlined inside and out with red stripes. On the wall below the niche was a painted altar with two confronting serpents. Upon the altar were painted offerings of two eggs and a pine cone. On the floor below the niche stood a travertine support upon which sat a bronze object in the form of a sea shell. This appears to have been used as an altar. This cult space was located at the entrance to the kitchen and storeroom.
