Description:
On the west wall of the peristyle was a cult space, consisting of an arched niche surrounded by wall paintings. It sat within a white panel marked off with a red border, which sat above a painted black dado with green plants. The niche sat on the left edge of the scene and had a projecting base. The back wall of the niche featured a painted bust of Mercury, wearing a winged petasos and chlamys, carrying a small green caduceus. On the right side of the cult space was a large yellow serpent. Below the niche, a second smaller serpent was present, which was wrapped around a cylindrical altar with an egg as an offering. The lower section of the painting was filled with green plants with red, yellow, and blue flowers, on which two butterflies and three birds can be seen. A peacock stood on the ground near the larger serpent. At the top of the scene, three garlands were painted appearing to suspend from nails.
