Peristyle/Portico
Description:
In the west wall of the peristyle was an arched niche. The niche sat 1.27m above the ground. In the floor of the niche was a hole, presumably for a statuette base,. The base of the niche consisted of a projecting tile. The wall below the niche was marked off by red stripes and within the panel was a cult painting. This featured an altar in the centre with an offering of an egg. On the left was a serpent coiling among plants with red flowers. On the right of the altar was the Genius with the camillus and popa carrying a knife and leading a hog to the altar. Today, only remnants of the painting can be seen on the back wall of the niche.
