Room function:

Peristyle/Portico

Description:

Located in the peristyle garden was an altar. Preliminary reports suggest that there was also a statue base, however, later reports only mention the altar. Boyce noted that nothing was visible of these structures at the time of his recording, however, photographs of the house today indicate that these structures have survived. The altar appears to have been made from tufa, while the statue base was masonry. These sat close to the west wall of the peristyle. No decoration has survived on the structures.
