Description:

On the south wall of the kitchen was a square niche. The niche sat 2.20m above the floor and was referred to as a "small niche of the Penates" by early scholars. The niche was completely encased by stucco, having a sort of simple projecting aedicula façade. Remnants of a red border around the interior edges can be seen.
