Sacrarium/Cult Room

Description:

The small room off the north wall of the atrium served as a cult room. The room was rectangular, with a masonry altar on the eastern side, the top of which was supported by two small pillars. Few traces remain of the decoration of the room, however, it was known that the pillars of the altar were painted black while the central wall was painted yellow. The floor was a combination of cement with a limestone threshold. The room was constructed during redecoration of the house in the first century A.D.
