Aediucla, Niche

Room function:

Peristyle/Portico

Description:

Against the western wall of the peristyle, between two engaged columns, was a simple aedicula shrine. It comprised a masonry base on which two plain solid walls flanked a rectangular niche and would have supported a now-lost pediment. The interior of the shrine was plastered. The shrine is badly preserved today.
