Description:
In the west wall of the peristyle were two large niches. One of the niches was originally fitted with a wooden door, the other with shelving. The back wall of one of the niches was painted with red, green, and yellow bands. During excavation, a series of statues were found on the ground in front of the niches. These included Fortuna holding a cornucopia and rudder, Minerva carrying a spear and patera, Apollo holding a laurel branch and patera, a Lar, and a bust of a female figure. Numerous other objects were found including gold earrings, a bronze bracelet, hundreds of pieces of coral, and a small glass amphora.
