Structural type:

Aediucla, Niche

Room function:

Peristyle/Portico

Description:

Located against the south wall of the peristyle was a shrine. This took the form of an aedicula, which stood 2.4m high. The structure sat on a rectangular podium and was built before a rectangular niche cut into the back wall. It consisted of two thick columns, built partially attached to the walls of the niche. The interior of the niche was coated with white stucco with a painting of a large bird with garland above present on both side walls. On the ground in front of the structure stood a white marble table. Two terracotta lamps were found within the structure during excavation.
