Description:
In the east wall of the garden was an arched niche, sitting 1.12m above the floor. The niche had a thick projecting floor. The interior walls were painted, with the sides of the niche being yellow and the back wall white. This back panel was decorated with a painted scene, however, only a green tree was visible by Boyce’s recording. The wall around the niche was also painted white and included a depiction of a Lar wearing blue holding a situla. The interior corners of the niche were lined with green paint.
